Meeting with ICNB Friday 18th February

We have had a meeting with a representative of the  Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e da Biodiversidade (ICNB) which is responsible for the management of  the Ria Formosa.

The focus of the meeting was access to the Ria Formosa and the problems caused by the fences around some of the plots in Salinas 2. We understand that there should be two areas of land between the villa plots and the Ria Formosa. The section nearest the plots is a green zone that plot owners may garden but not fence off. The second, nearest the Ria Formosa must be left in a natural state. ICNB will review the process which led to the erection of fences. It seems that there is conflicting information held by the various organisations responsible for planning. In order to provide a practical solution ICNB will hold discussions with Infaquinta about improving the ‘bridge’ at the southern end of Lote 2 in Salinas 2, improving the footpaths generally and ensuring better access for Salinas owners.

We were told that, due to financial difficulties, Grupo Atlantica (Vila Sol) have sold the area of pine forest between us and the Ria Formosa. We were given assurances that this area can not be developed.

It was also confirmed that ICNB has processed the application for demolition on Plots 1 and 2 in Salinas and passed their views back to Câmara Municipal de Loulé

Refuse Bins

The underground bins for household waste are now in use.  There are three units; two located next to the new recycling bins and a third by the tennis courts. The moloks have been removed.
The recycling bins will continue to be emptied by a contractor but the waste bins will be emptied by Infraquinta.
If you have larger household items that need collecting please contact Infraquinta 289 390 030

Landscaping

Although we were promised that landscaping would be carried out between January and March, the work has yet to be started. We will put this on the agenda for the next Infraquinta meeting.

Plots 1 and 2

Obtaining approval for the demolition of the building is proving to be a slow and bureaucratic process but the owner is persisting and has responded quickly to all requests from the Câmara.

Because of the location of the plots, approval of the  Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e da Biodiversidade (ICNB), who are responsible for the management of  the Ria Formosa, is also required.
